SSS: Demand letters sent to delinquent firms

The Social Security System (SSS) said it will start issuing demand letters to delinquent employers who will fail to comply with their obligations under the Social Security Act of 2018, ABS-CBN News reported.

Victorina Pardo-Pajarillo, head of the SSS NCR East Legal Department, quoted by the report, warned employers that non-compliance following the issuance of violation notices could lead to the filing of criminal charges against them.

The official said companies will be given “15 days to comply otherwise,” itong account nila sa SSS ay ire-refer sa legal department. We will be issuing a demand letter.”

Pajarillo added that “if after the demand letter,” and employers still do not comply, “then that’s the time” that cases will be filed.

Not remitting to SSS is a criminal case, she added.

The SSS Ortigas Branch on Wednesday issued notices of violation to 10 delinquent employers in Ugong, Pasig, as part of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) program.

The erring employers reportedly incurred a total of P4.88 million in delinquencies due to unpaid contributions and penalties, which affected the monthly contributions of 46 employees.

“We’re giving chances naman po para sa mga employer na ito na mag-avail ng mga structured or installment program na meron si SSS para hindi rin naman sila mahirapan sa pagbabayad ng deliquency sa contribution,” Benjamin Dolindo Jr., acting head of SSS NCR East Division, explained.

Among the delinquent employers was a company specializing in water collection, treatment, and supply, which had the highest contribution delinquency totaling P2.94 million, ABS-CBN News reported.
