Cops rescue five Chinese victims of trafficking

OPERATIVES of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have rescued five Chinese nationals believed to be victims of human trafficking.

The operation, conducted on Oct. 30 against a condominium in Sta. Monica Street, Ermita, Manila, which led to the arrest of a suspected member of the trafficking ring, 23-year-old Chinese national Qiu Tian.

The raid was staged following a complaint that a certain Peng Xiao was being illegally held, physically abused, and forced to work in an alleged scam operation.

The raiders entered Unit 3214 of the building where they found Peng along with four other victims identified as Wang Saixia, Yang Longtao, Ning Guobin, and Kang Lei.

The suspect was taken to the Regional Operations Group for further interrogation and documentation.

“The NCRPO is fully committed to fighting human trafficking and ensuring rapid, coordinated actions to safeguard vulnerable individuals. This operation is a significant step in delivering justice for victims and bringing perpetrators to account,” said NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia.
