The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will deploy 1,389 personnel to ensure peace and order during the filing of certificates of candidacy from October 1 to 8 for the upcoming midterm elections.
“To bolster security, 1,389 NCRPO personnel will be deployed to enhance police visibility at all designated filing locations, including Commission on Elections offices and other key areas,” said Metro Manila police director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
Nartatez has instructed all district directors to ensure that sufficient personnel are assigned to manage crowd control and traffic flow, as well as to provide assistance through help desks for candidates and the public.
The NCRPO will work closely with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), local government units, and other key stakeholders to ensure a seamless regional process.
“We must uphold a safe environment that fosters the democratic process. We are committed to ensuring that the filing of candidacies in Metro Manila proceeds smoothly and without disruptions,” the NCRPO chief said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order during the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) filing period.
Nartatez assured the public of the NCRPO’s readiness to maintain peace and security throughout this period and reminded them to cooperate with authorities and respect the rules and regulations set forth by the poll body during the COC filing period.
He mentioned that coordination meetings with various government agencies and stakeholders are ongoing to address possible challenges and ensure swift responses to emerging situations.
“Let us all work together to make this crucial step in our democratic process peaceful and orderly,” he said.
