Blvck Entertainment and its film production arm, Blvck Films, spearheaded by Louie and Grace Cristobal, have unveiled the results of their inaugural scriptwriting contest. The competition, directed creatively by Roman Perez Jr., attracted over 150 submissions from both seasoned and emerging scriptwriters.
Television drama writer Mario M. Banzon secured first place with his script Tres Marias, while Joseph Abello’s Chester’s Eight Birthday Party earned second place, and Dustin Celestino’s Supremo achieved third.
Banzon’s script will be produced by Blvck Films to turn it into a full-length feature. The top three winners received cash prizes of P100,000, P50,000, and P30,000, respectively, while the remaining seven finalists each received P10,000.
Completing the top 10 finalists were Gian Arre (Habang Tulog Ang Mundo), Ronald Batallones (Mento), Nash Casiño (Drifters of Britannia), Paul Singh Cudail (Huling Korona), Kristofer Ted Navarro (Grrrbage), and Abet Pagdagdagan Raz (Little Miss Hope).
The panel of judges was composed of entertainment industry practitioners including Erick Castro, Mon Confiado, Zig Dulay, John Carlo Pacala, Roman Perez, Jr., Ronald Rios, and Raffy Tejada.
The first Blvck Entertainment Scriptwriting Contest 2024 Awards Night was held on Aug. 3 at the B Hotel Grand Ballroom in Quezon City.
“When my wife shared the idea, I liked it and asked about the top 10 scripts. They suggested producing them as movies, and that’s our plan now. And we hope to continue this contest every year,” Louie Cristobal said in his speech during the event.
