The Department of National Defense’s Office of Civil Defense (DND-OCD) and the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP) forge a partnership that would integrate mining companies into the OCD’s national disaster risk reduction and management network. Signing the memorandum of understanding are DND Undersecretary and OCD administrator Ariel Nepomuceno (left) and COMP chairman Michael Toledo. Through the MOU, mining companies will play a more active role in coordinating and assisting with disaster response. This will leverage the resources and expertise of both parties to ensure a more efficient and effective response to natural disasters across the Philippines.
