DOH rallies behind First Lady’s LAB for All caravan in E. Visayas

The Department of Health (DOH), in support to the LAB for ALL Caravan led by First Lady Louise “Liza” Marcos, has provided health care services to more than 5,000 individuals.

“We are grateful to the First Lady as this is aligned with the DOH’s mission to guarantee all Filipinos’ access to quality health care services,” said Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa on Monday.

“We are also thankful to the over 200 volunteers who dedicated their time to ensure the successful provision of medical and ancillary services from the DOH-EVCHD, Eastern Visayas Medical Center medical teams headed by Medical Center chief II Dr. Jose Michael Jaro, and the City Health Office of Tacloban City led by Dr. Gloria Fabregas,” Herbosa added.

The event was also graced by Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez.

The DOH said the latest beneficiaries of accessible laboratory services, free consultation with specialists, and free medication were the Tacloban people. The caravan was held last July 2–4.

Throughout the three-day government service caravan, the DOH provided services in the following designated venues: People’s Center, Eastern Visayas State University Gym, Marasbaras National High School Gym, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Gym, and the Tacloban City National High School Gym.

Together with the Tacloban City Health Office and Eastern Visayas Medical Center, the DOH Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development, the team delivered various medical services, namely: medical consultations (internal medicine, surgery, ear, nose, and throat, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and family medicine), laboratory and other diagnostic services (ultrasound, blood chemistry, CBC, urinalysis, CT scan, and X-ray, etc.), dental services, vaccination, medicine provision, and vision screening with prescription lenses provision.

Among those who attended the event were Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre, Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco, Commission on Higher Education chairman Prospero De Vera III, Food and Drug Administration director general Samuel Zacate, Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta, and DOH Center for Health Development Eastern Visayas director Dr. Exuperia Sabalberino,
