Royal Thai Navy Commander-in-chief Admiral Adoong Pan-lam on Thursday paid a courtesy call to AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., to discuss maritime security capabilities.
AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Colonel Xerxes Trinidad said that Brawner extended his gratitude to Admiral Pan-nam for the continued military cooperation with the AFP.
“The two parties also exchanged insights on enhancing their maritime security capabilities through joint maritime exercises and defense training,” Trinidad said.
AFP said that this military partnership is based on the 1997 Philippine-Thailand Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Military Cooperation.
“As founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), both parties reaffirmed their commitment to a rules-based international order to foster the region’s prosperity,” Trinidad added.
The Armed Forces also said that the military cooperation reflects the AFP’s efforts to bolster defense collaboration with like-minded nations to maintain stability and peace in Southeast Asia.
