Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla named Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin as the new head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The DILG made the announcement in a social media post on Friday, November 22. The agency congratulated the newly-appointed NCRPO chief, who will be transferring from the PNP Central Visayas office.
Aberin will replace Police Major General Sidney Hernia, who was placed under administrative relief for 10 days—November 7 to 22—following allegations of extortion. Remulla also confirmed the designation of Aberin as the new NCRPO chief in a recent dzBB report.
NCRPO Public Information Office chief Police Major Myrna Diploma said an official statement shall be released by the PNP National Headquarters regarding this development and the new assignment for Hernia.
Aberin was appointed as the Central Visayas Police chief on March 20, 2023.
