Sofitel Philippine Plaza to stop operations in July

Luxury hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila announced on Friday, May 10, its closure this year, according to the multinational hospitality company Accor.

In a statement released by Accor, the five-star hotel that has been a landmark in the city for nearly five decades would be closing its doors to the public starting July 1.

“The hotel has announced that it will close and cease operations starting July 1, 2024,” it said in a statement.

It also further explained that the closure was part of their commitment to deliver “best possible experience”. 

“This decision comes as part of our ongoing commitment to providing our guests and colleagues with the best possible experience,” it added.

Despite the announcement of closure, the hospitality property ensured guests that it would honor all commitments and reservations until the end of June.

Built in 1973 and began operating in 1976, the hotel’s iconic structure, designed by National Artists Leandro Locsin and Ildefonso P. Santos.
