NCRPO says Holy Week in Metro peaceful

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) viewed the Holy Week observance in Metro Manila as generally peaceful and orderly, with no reports of any untoward incidents.

NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jose Nartatez Jr.  said their  “meticulous planning and proactive measures” paid off, as the region experienced a 30.42-percent decrease in crime rate during  the Holy Week period compared to the week before.

The NCRPO collaborated with local government units, other law enforcement agencies, and pr vate stakeholders to establish a comprehensive security framework through information-sharing mechanisms and joint operations.

The unit also deployed a full-force operation with 12,407 police officers guarding several key areas such as 295 places of worship, 90 thoroughfares, 139 transport hubs, 1,092 commercial areas, and 82 places of convergence to deter criminal activities and maintain order during big religious activities.

Nartatez himself personally ove saw the security situation during the Holy Week, ensuring that police personnel were vigilant in implementing directives and security guidelines rigorously.

Through his continuous inspections, Police Assistance Desks and police presence were guaranteed in key areas like terminal hubs and religious sites.

In addition to security measures, the NCRPO honored religious traditions as part of the PNP Core Value “Maka-Diyos.”
