Government agents seized P212 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in a parcel declared as “routers” at the Port of Clark, Pampanga.

Combined operatives from the Bureau of Customs (BOC), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), found the illegal drugs in a shipment that came from New Jersey, USA.

Based on intelligence reports, the contraband was subjected to an x-ray scanning and K9 sniffing and indicating the possible presence of prohibited drugs.

A physical examination was conducted which led to the findings of 29 packs of vacuum-sealed transparent plastic, which contained crystalline substances suspected to be shabu.

BOC District Collector Erastus Sandino B. Austria said the  shipment was seized for violation of R.A. No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) in relation to R.A. No. 9165.

“This is the biggest drug apprehension of the Port of Clark in a single shipment since 2020,” Austria said.

The BOC vowed to heighten the country’s borders and will continue to coordinate with the PDEA and partner agencies to halt the entry of illegal drugs in the country as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
