MMDA continues cleanup drive in San Isidro Village, Paranaque City

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) resumed its clean-up drive, this time in San Isidro Village, Paranaque City, as part of its “Bayanihan sa Barangay” project aimed to reduce waste and promote cleanliness in the area.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said: “We recently brought the Bayanihan Project to Parañaque, which was held at Silverio Elementary School. The purpose of the program is to encourage residents to keep their barangay clean and tidy.”

The MMDA staff, along with village officials and volunteers, conducted various activities including drainage declogging, anti-dengue misting, sidewalk clearing, and adjustment of pavement markings, and placing traffic signages in the area.

Orientation sessions were also held for the students of Silverio Elementary School to teach them about solid waste management, anti-smoking, anti-littering, and disaster preparedness.

The event also featured the Mobile Materials Recovery Facility, where participants could exchange recyclable trash for groceries as part of the “Recyclables Mo, Palit Grocery Ko” project.

About 270 kilos of materials were collected, while the grocery items distributed in exchange for the recyclables amounted to P1,922.

Village officials expressed their gratitude to MMDA and reminded residents that everyone’s help is needed to maintain cleanliness in their community.

The MMDA plans on conducting the Bayanihan sa Barangay Project on a regular basis to maintain cleanliness in the National Capital Region.
