Honda Cars PH announces voluntary recall of 2022 Civic

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has issued a voluntary safety recall for 1,025 units of the 2022 Honda Civic. The recall is being conducted to replace the Electric Power Steering Gearbox, which has been found to have an installation or manufacturing issue.

The specific problem identified in these units is the improper installation or manufacturing of the Electric Power Steering Gearbox worm gear. Due to depleted grease on the worm gear, a stick slip occurs, resulting in an unusual sound when turning the steering wheel.

Fortunately, there have been no reported accidents in the Philippines related to this issue. However, as a commitment to delivering quality and ensuring customer safety, HCPI will be replacing the faulty parts in collaboration with its 37 authorized Honda Dealers and four (4) Service Centers nationwide. The replacement will be provided at no cost to the affected vehicle owners and is estimated to take approximately three and a half hours to complete.

HCPI is taking measures to promptly notify all owners of the affected vehicles. In cases where the vehicles have been sold or disposed of, HCPI will make efforts to obtain the contact information of the new owners to ensure they are informed of the recall. Owners can also verify if their vehicle is affected by visiting the recall information webpage at www.hondaphil.com/recall and entering the 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number. For inquiries, customers can reach out to any Honda Dealership or contact HCPI’s hotline at (02) 8 857-7240.

HCPI acknowledges and apologizes for any inconvenience caused and expresses gratitude to its customers for their ongoing support and cooperation throughout the recall process. The company remains committed to prioritizing customer safety and ensuring the highest standards of quality in its products.
