Former Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar dismissed allegations about his involvement in an alleged disinformation drive.
Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) administrator Katrina Ponce Enrile, in a recent address captured on video, accused Andanar of funding a disinformation campaign while in China.
“Martin Andanar is not based here. He is now based in Beijing, he is now funding all this disinformation, like Maharlika TV, and Sass all these others. They’re doing this not out of love for country. They’re doing this because they’re getting paid,” she said, in an excerpt of her speech shared on TikTok.
The CEZA executive was referring to vloggers Maharlika TV and Sass Rogando Sasot, whom Andanar was allegedly funding.
The daughter of former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile also cautioned against the alleged involvement of China in the country’s affairs. She urged Filipinos to broaden their minds and not to fall for the alleged China-sponsored propaganda.
But Andanar said Enrile’s accusations are “nothing more than false information.”
Andanar is now based in China as a news anchor for the English-language China Global Television Network.
He took to social media to throw major shade at Enrile, even proclaiming his preference for Purefoods over the Enrile-owned Delimondo chain.
“A for Effort for the pretense of being a staunch defender. C for Corned beef, with Purefoods still the best in my book,” Andanar said in a Facebook post.
Andanar also advised his critic to do some research to avoid being called as “mema,” a term derived from “mayroong masasabi” or someone talking without substance.
