The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday said it is already “about 90 percent prepared” for the nationwide Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections scheduled on Nov. 2, 2026, with ballot printing, election materials, and security preparations nearing completion.
Comelec chair George Erwin Garcia assured the public that the poll body is on track for the village and youth council elections.
“We have repeatedly said that Comelec is ready. About 90 percent of our preparations are complete. We are ready with the ballots and equipment,” Garcia said.
The poll chief said around 95 million voters are expected to participate in the BSKE, making it one of the country’s largest electoral exercises.
“That is how many voters we expect in the Barangay and SK elections,” he added.
Garcia said the commission has been continuously coordinating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, and other government agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly elections nationwide.
He cited a recent command conference with security forces as part of ongoing preparations, saying the security measures laid out by the Commission would continue to be implemented in the coming months.
According to Garcia, preparations include ballot printing, deployment of election materials and equipment, and intensified coordination with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and order during the polls.
