LAND Transportation Office chief Vigor Mendoza II has committed to open more plantilla positions in the next two years to reward hard working and deserving personnel who have already spent years as contractual employees.

“As early as now, we are planning to open more plantilla positions, positions that would be available for deserving, competent and efficient people who want to serve in the LTO,” Mendoza said.

“That is my vision, that is what I want to happen in the next two years,” he added.

Sixty-three employees were either hired or promoted at the LTO central office in Quezon City.

At least 45 others also filled up the vacant plantilla positions in the regional offices.

According to Mendoza, upon his assumption into office, one of his first actions was to review the status of employment of all LTO personnel across the country.

He said he discovered that there were thousands of LTO personnel who remained contractual despite years of service.

After a series of consultations with Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Mendoza said they were able to secure the commitment of the Department of Budget and Management for the opening of more plantilla positions in the LTO to address contractualization pursuant to  the pledge of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that he would  take care of the government workers under the Bagong Pilipinas Program.
