The Office of the President (OP) together with the Department of Interior and Local government (DILG) will spearhead the first yuletide season program for provincial and local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines.
The program titled “Isang Bituin, Isang Mithiin,” is a nationwide “parol” or lantern-making contest that aims to promote the culture and ingenuity of various localities in the country.
According to the mechanics of the contest, the contest is open to all Filipino individuals or groups with a maximum number of four members per group.
The lanterns must be made of at least 70 percent of endemic materials from the Philippines and must have lights. Also, the Christmas lantern must be 2 meters in diameter must withstand natural weather and climate of the country.
LGUs must submit their selected entries to Malacañang on or before November 14. The winners will be announced on November 22.
The 3rd placer shall receive P50,000, 2nd placer shall receive P75,000 and the 1st placer shall receive P100,000. All winners will also receive a Laptop showcase, and the winning entries shall be featured in the Palace Christmas tree and it will also be featured in Presidential Broadcast Staff Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM).
