The Philippine Kiteboarding Association is all geared up and thrilled to bring another adrenaline-filled Amihan season as it holds again a spectacular installment of the 8th ICTSI Philippine Kiteboarding Tour.

Formed in early 2013, and with the full support of International Container Terminal Services Inc., the PKA has been conducting national kiteboarding tour competitions across the country in some of the best destination spots for the sport.

Since its inception in 2013, the PKA has already spearheaded more than 20 kitesurfing events across the country, with over 200 participants including both local and international kiteboarding superstars joining the tour.

Each leg features three main competition disciplines, namely, Race, Hangtime (longest on air trick) and Freestyle.

The race is further subdivided between Men, Women, Masters Class (40 to 54yrs old) and Grand Masters Class (55 and Above), plus a Novice division for new participants of the sport, while the Freestyle and Hangtime competitions, are subdivided to two classes, Men and Women.

This year, the group is bringing these extreme athletes to four exotic and pristine beaches, that will definitely give a boost to local tourism, by showcasing these spots to the kitesurfing world.

The venues for the 2022-2023 season Ilocos Norte (Oct. 15 to 17), Iloilo (Jan. 13 to 15, 2023), Cebu (February 10 to 12) and Aklan (March 3 to 5).

“We are excited to bring back the tour after two years of absence due to the global pandemic. Since our Silver Medal win in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games at Buenos Aires, we have set our eyes on other global events. Our aim is for this tour to again put into track our Olympic Program for training local athletes and talents as Kiteboarding will be a permanent event beginning with the 2024 Paris Olympics,”Jay Ortiz, the current PKA President, said.

The Philippine Kiteboarding Association is under the umbrella arm of the Philippine Sailing Association, headed by Ernesto Echauz and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.
