The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it has identified three persons of interest in the shooting incident which occurred during a visit of presidential candidate Leody de Guzman in Quezon, Bukidnon.
The PNP also identified the shooter who opened fire at the event.
PNP Region 10 Director Benjamin Acorda said the PNP has “identified the shooter, and also we tried to reach out with Ka Leody for the full support of their members or the Manobo-Pulangiyon clan that they will give their affidavits and sworn statements,” Acorda, however, did not give details details when asked how many shooters there were.
Earlier, PNP spokesperson P/Colonel Jean Fajardo, in a radio interview, said a police forensics team visited and processed the plantation where the shooting incident happened on April 19.
She said the police “confiscated some firearms from the security personnel of the property including eight shotguns, two 9 mm pistols, and a .38 caliber.”
Fajardo said the PNP “already have three persons of interest and we are just waiting for the statement of the witnesses.”
The confiscated firearms will be subject to gunpowder residue examination to determine if they were used in the incident, Fajardo said.
The shooting incident marred the visit of de Guzman, a labor leader, to Bukidnon where he discussed alleged land grabbing.
