Political officers league formed

Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Danny Lim has spearheaded the inauguration of officers and members of the Political Officers League of the Philippines in their first national assembly recently held at the Quezon City Hall.

Lim, POLPhil chairman emeritus, was joined by Tuburan City, Cebu Vice Mayor Democrito Diamante, Vice Mayors League of the Philippines executive vice president; and Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanhirang, Philippine Councilors League national chairman, among others.

"POLPhil is composed of members representing all sectors of society, such as those who are active in public service and private individuals who believe that they can help POLPhil and the people as well," Lim said in his inspirational message.

"We will push for reforms no matter who the President is. This is not about politics," he added.

Senator Francis Tolentino welcomed the group's initiative.

According to POLPhil, its aim is to educate, inspire and mobilize the next generation of leaders to rise up and create opportunities toward the development of the nation's human capital, indigenous and cultural wealth, natural resources, and creative and intellectual assets.

"POLPhil aspires to gather the greatest number of Filipinos coming from different sectors, beliefs and ethnicity, who are desiring affirmative change to move the country to achieve First World Nation Status within the next 20 years," the group said.

Peace-building is one area being learned by POLPhil officers and members committed to support the government's efforts into transforming violent conflict into a peaceful zone and building an atmosphere of peace through the delivery of livelihood and income opportunities at the grassroots level, Diamante said.

POLPhil will try to help resolve insurgency, poverty and even social injustice, Lim said. “All of these is for our country.”
