Why is Enchong Dee lying low?

Actor and TV host Enchong Dee reveals that he still has no upcoming regular show with home studio ABS-CBN.

His last program with the network was The Blood Sisters in 2018.

“I don’t know why it’s like that,” he says.

Did he receive offers previously to do a show or it’s his decision not to be visible in the soap opera scene at this point?

“There were offers in the beginning but you know, you have to weigh things. You have to assess if you will do a project because you want it or you will do it because your mother network couldn’t give you something really meaty. I simply have to consider wisely regarding the next show I’ll be doing.”

With this scenario, does he toy with the idea of transferring to the rival camp?

Enchong Dee may be jobless on TV but he’s busy with other things like traveling, endorsements, and promoting his healthy and active lifestyle advocacy.

“I don’t think it’s the right time to think about that because I still have an existing contract with the Kapamilya. To be honest, it hasn’t crossed my mind, maybe because I don’t consider the ‘biz as my sole source of income. For me, it’s still the craft. It’s something that I deeply value and is very passionate about. At the end of the day, it’s not always money that should be your top consideration in accepting offers,” states Enchong.

Next year, his contract with ABS-CBN will already expire. Does he feel impatient with having no regular show now?

“Well, it’s just fine. Anyway, it gives me the time to make movies at the other end so, just the same.”

Apart from being an actor, he also has other successful businesses and has bought various properties.

Some quarters ask if he has started contemplating on quitting show business.

“Nope, I haven’t thought of the idea. There are still lots of things I dream to accomplish like representing our country to different international film festivals. It’s one of my fervent hopes. It will be very memorable and prestigious.”

Speaking of prestige, the chinky-eyed actor achieved another milestone in his career when he was adjudged Best Single Performance by an Actor in the recent 33rd Star Awards for Television.

“Oh yes! It’s the second time that I received such recognition. In 2011, I also bagged the same trophy from the Star Awards. I was cited for my work in the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode titled, Wheelchair.’ I’m proud with the award. It validates my growth as an artist,” Enchong states.

Interestingly, his next film project excites the appealing lad.

“We’ll start shooting next month. It is a collaboration thing between Ten 17 Production and Toni Gonzaga’s Tin Can. I’m just thrilled because I’ve been dreaming to work with Direk Paul (Soriano) and now came the opportunity. They’re known for making quality movies which have box-office potential. I’m really looking forward to this!”

Meanwhile, what’s the present state of his love life?

“Actually, I’m doing so many other stuffs apart from show business. The ‘biz is like just ten percent of my whole life. There are other aspects which I attend to. Love life? Perhaps, if I have right now, I’ll just keep quiet and be on low profile. I learned from my experiences in the past. But definitely, I’m dating,” Enchong ends.

Action star wannabe

As his GMA soap opera Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko recently had its curtain call, Rayver Cruz mentions the next genre he dreams for his next project if possible.

Rayver Cruz wants to do action after starring in a string of drama series.

“Action!” he avers. “If given a choice, I want to do an action project. I think it will suit me because I’m athletic. I’m also aware that the Kapuso shines in their action materials so I hope I can try. I want it to be an action with a twist.”

Many notices that he’s one of the busiest actors in his home studio. Apart from the recently-concluded Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko he is also in Studio 7 and The Clash.

“I’m really grateful to GMA for the trust and confidence. It’s simply a blessing. That’s why I’m inspired to work and give it my best shot!”

Now that he’s also hosting, how can he compare it with acting and dancing?

“For sure, it gives me a different high. It’s a nice feeling to realize that you can do something new apart from the usual tasks assigned to you. Definitely, my inclusion as a main host in The Clash adds to my versatility as it further widens my horizon. I’m realty thankful to be given the chance,” says Rayver.
