Cebu City—The year 2019 marks a milestone in the history of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. as season 19’s production and coverage, marketing, and digital media committees are organized and managed by student volunteers from the league’s various universities.
CESAFI is the only student league in the Philippines to have such student-managed production, media, and marketing teams. Season 19 of the league begins on August 31 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The CESAFI Season 19 student-volunteers handle the various aspects of production, from directing the coverage, handling the cameras, streaming, and other production equipment, anchoring, commentating, and courtside reporting; of marketing, putting together proposals and making pitches with prospective sponsors; and of digital media, producing articles, photos, videos, and graphic design for the official CESAFI Season 19 website and social media platforms (FB, YouTube, Twitter and IG).
An initiative of CESAFI Commissioner Felix O. Tiukinhoy, Jr., the CESAFI Season 19 student-volunteers corps is called CESAFI LIVE. It provides the students with training and practical real-world experience in the fields of marketing, creative design, media, and production, while drumming up support for the league’s events, players and contenders.
“We take CESAFI one step further this Season 19, not only by improving the environment for our student-athletes and other event contenders, but also by including more students not merely as spectators and fans, but as actual organizers and managers of various committees that make CESAFI a success,” said Tiukinhoy.
“This way, we can truly say that CESAFI is not just for the students, but also of the students and by the students. Basta CESAFI, estudyante!”
CESAFI Season 19 starts with an opening program, parade and oath-taking of student-athletes, and basketball games to be played by Don Bosco Technological Centre versus Cebu Eastern College (high school) and Cebu Institute of Technology-University versus University of San Jose-Recoletos (college).
Season 19 is presented by Cebu Landmasters Inc., PayMaya, Sun Cellular, and co-presented by Qualfon, Virginia Food Inc., and CDO Foodsphere Inc. It is sponsored by Marco Polo Hotels, UPB Gen and Sonak Trading. Media partners include the BusinessMirror, Skycable, Cebu Daily News, Sun Star Cebu, The Freeman, Superbalita Cebu and Banat.—CESAFI Media Bureau
