More unregistered Navoteños have received their birth certificates through the free late birth registration program of the City Government of Navotas.
An additional 145 Navoteños benefitted from the waived fees, penalties and charges on late birth registration amounting to P1,500.
Mayor Toby Tiangco called on Navotas-born residents to take advantage of the program.
“Having a birth certificate is important as it is one of the main requirements for enrollment, job application, or availing some government services,” he noted.
The late birth registration program was implemented through City Ordinance 2018-19 penned by Coun. Ethel Joy Arriola-Mejia and signed by Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo.
Arriola-Mejia, a lawyer, also offers notarial services for free.
Since January, 1,200 late registrants have already received their birth certificates. Navoteños who are interested to apply for the program may call 281-8531 local 300 or 310. They may also visit the offices of Geronimo and Arriola-Mejia at the 3rd floor of Navotas City Hall.
Aside from the late birth registration, Navotas also has a free birth registration program for Navoteño children born at the Navotas City Hospital or the city’s lying-in center.
Newborns also receive a Navocare baby kit containing a cotton roll, a bottle of alcohol, a baby bath soap, cotton buds, disposable diapers, four onesies, a baby bag, and a baby box that can serve as crib.
