The Commission on Elections on Wednesday said that the poll body’s unliquidated cash advances is only P131 million, and not P1.6 billion as reported by the Commission on Audit.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said that as of July 31 this year, the Comelec has already disbursed P1.4 billion to the Special Disbursing officers while the P179 million went to Comelec officers and employees.
The Comelec spokesman made the statement in response to COA’s letter to Comelec directing the poll body to settle P1.63 billion worth of unliquidated cash advance as of September 2018.
“It is actually down to P131 million. I don’t know why they reported an older figure, but as of July 31, our unliquidated cash advances stood at P131 million,” Jimenez said.
Jimenez explained that the delay in disbursing the mount was a matter of bank reconciliations.
