Estrada to MPD: Keep Manila safe from crime

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has instructed the Manila Police District to take full charge of enforcing all laws, ordinances, and other regulations to keep peace and order in the city in a bid to attract tourists and foreign investors.

Estrada, who assumed the mayoralty in 2013, vowed to help Manila regain its glory and restore the confidence of investors by maintaining peace and order and clean the city of trash and illegal street vendors.

The Manila chief executive appealed to residents for their cooperation since he could not do it alone, to realize his vision of making Manila the center of business and tourist destination.

Estrada’s battlecry “Forward Ever, Backward Never” is gaining support from newly elected barangay and youth officials to bring back the glory of Manila by keeping their respective areas free from illegal drugs and all forms of criminality.

He had repeatedly said a country or city would find it hard to achieve progress without peace and order.

Mayor Estrada said Manila is a business-friendly city and inviting investors to set up businesses in the city would create more jobs for the residents.

The former president said since he became the city mayor, Manila is now a safer place not just for tourists but for its residents.

Estrada admitted he would run for a third and final term as Manila mayor in 2019 to continue to pursue his dream of regaining the “lost pride and glory” of Manila.
