Davao City—Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio said if she were to choose to run in a national position or remain in the city, whether as a private individual or a government official, she would rather remain in Davao.
In an interview with the media after the 13th Araw ng Barangay Vicente Hizon Sr., Carpio said she was thankful for all the support she received from people around the country who were pushing her to seek a national post.
However, she would want to stay in Davao City whether as a government official or as a private citizen.
“If I were to decide today, I’d like to stay here. Live and work in Davao City whether in the government or private sector,” Carpio said.
During the celebration, barangay chairman Ralph Salvador suddenly endorsed Carpio for senator and even asked the latter to consider seeking the presidency.
“Well, I’d like to thank Captain Salvador for the endorsement but we will still have to think [about whether to run] for a national position—whether senator or president,” she said.
Abella said it would be best for Capio to consider the presidency after her father’s—President Rodrigo Duterte—term ends in 2022.
“It would be better if she considers the presidency since she will continue his father’s legacy,” Abella said during his speech.
In the recent Pulse Asia survey conducted on June 15 to 21, Carpio ranked in the top five.
