DPWH paves road to Capissaan Caves

THE Department of Public Works and Highways in Region 2 has started the P41-million rehabilitation works on the road going to the famous Capissaan Cave tourist spot in Nueva Vizcaya.

District Engineer Ronald P. Reyes of DPWH-Nueva Vizcaya Second District Engineering Office said travel to the caves in the upland town of Kasibu in the province will soon be faster and easier, as the access road that leads directly to the tourist spot is now being repaired.

The rehabilitation includes the concreting of 1,656 lineal meters of road section, which will improve vehicle mobility and provide a smoother travelling experience for the public.

Capissaan Cave is the fifth longest cave system in the country and offers rare kinds of calcite formations.

“When completed, we hope that more tourists will visit the Capissaan Caves,” Reyes said.

He said the road will also facilitate faster delivery of goods and services and transportation of agricultural products of the villagers to and from the town center.

He said the road project is funded by the Department of Tourism (DOT) under the DPWH-DOT Convergence Program. Brenda Jocson
