The Davao Aguilas Football Club that includes some of the country’s top players, including James and Phil Younghusband, came out in full force to show their support to team member Simone Rota, whose documentary movie produced by Albert Almedralejo, The Journeyman Finds Home: The Simone Rota Story, was shown before an appreciative crowd at the Uptown Mall recently. The proceeds of the show which will be featured in 17 different places in Mindanao will be used to support grassroots football in the region. Rota’s football team has also adopted an orphanage in Davao following’s Rota’s example of going back to the Buklod Kalinga orphanage, where he was adopted by an Italian couple when he was still a baby. The film won a special award in Italy recently.
