Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte the concerns on the human rights record of the Duterte administration.
Trudeau said he directly addressed the issue on extrajudicial killings with Duterte.
He said such a conversation is not new to him as Canada has been known to air its strong stand for the rule of law and human rights.
Trudeau talked with Duterte before the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) – Canada 40th Anniversary Commemorative Summit.
The Canadian head of state said Duterte listened very well to his remarks.
He told a press conference at the International Media Center that the conversation between him and Duterte was very cordial.
