The Department of Public Works and Highways said that road repairs in Marawi City will be completed by Nov. 25 as part of its master plan for Marawi’s rehabilitation.

He said that the department has also deployed service vehicles to transport returning residents of Marawi City driven out for more than five months by the fierce fighting between terrorist forces and government troops.

“A total of 19 DPWH service vehicles from DPWH District Engineering Offices in Lanao del Norte and Misamis Oriental helped transport 254 individuals to their residence in Barangay Loksa last week,” he said.

Villar said that the DPWH is allocating more than ₱200 million pesos to set up the road network, drainage system, and other basic utilities.

The DPWH chief met with military and local officials and discussed plans to repair and reconstruct government infrastructure inside the war zone.

The DPWH is among several government agencies conducting post-conflict needs assessment.

The department is also conducting clearing operations in 40 barangays to clear the way for rehabilitation plans.
