An American septuagenarian pedophile wanted by federal authorities in Florida, US was nabbed by immigration authorities in Pampanga, for violating the conditions of his parole.
The 70-year-old Ronald Omar Pelletier was arrested at his home along Paulette Street, Josefa Subd., Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit.
Pelletier is the subject of an arrest warrant by a US district court in Florida which found him guilty of violating his parole by not reporting a change of his address to authorities, according to Immigration commissioner Jaime Morente.
“He will be deported for being an undesirable and undocumented alien,” said Morente, who added that the American’s passport was already cancelled by the US State Department.
The BI chief added that the bureau’s board of commissioners will issue this week a summary deportation order against Pelletier whom he described as a “risk to public safety and security due to his being a fugitive from justice.”
Immigration intelligence officer Bobby Raquepo, BI-FSU acting chief, disclosed that Pelletier last arrived in the country on May 20 this year.
Raquepo said Pelletier was sentenced by a Florida court to 18 months imprisonment and five years of supervised release following his conviction for possession of child pornography on Sept. 21 last year. He was also fined US$10,000.
“It was only last March when authorities learned that he had vacated his last known address, thus prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest,” Raquepo added.
Information provided by the US Embassy revealed that among the conditions imposed by the court for his supervised release was for him to notify authorities of any address change as required by existing statutes for sex offenders.
The court also required Pelletier to participate in a mental health program for sex offenders and ordered him to desist from having contact with minors below 18 years old and possessing pictures and videos depicting nude children or sexually explicit positions while he was under probation.
