THE Quezon City government and Rotary Club District 3780 have partnered for disaster risk reduction management.

Under the agreement, Mayor Herbert Bautista designated Rotary Club District 3780, represented by district governor Chito Borromeo, as the primary civil society organization to assist and respond to emergencies in the city in times of disaster.

RC District 3780 will immediately respond to calls for rescue during calamities, provide the city government with logistical support, assist in relief goods provision, and coordinate with the city in every effort to reduce the risk to QC residents during disasters.

The city government sees the agreement with the Rotary Club as an opportunity to engage civil society in disaster risk reduction and management.

“At a meeting at the Regional Peace and Order Council, QC Representatives Vincent Crisologo, Alfred Vargas, Feliciano Belmonte and Christopher Belmonte discussed the engagement of all in disaster risk reduction and management, and today is a very opportune time and important milestone in the partnership with the Quezon City government and the Rotary Club District 3780,” Bautista said.

“Today we will be embarking on another partnership with the Rotary Club District 3780 on disaster risk reduction and management. All of us have been trained, and we’ve undergone a lot of seminars on disaster risk reduction and management. Only last Friday, an earthquake with an epicenter in Lian, Batangas rocked Quezon City and some parts of Metro Manila,” he added.
