The local government of Caloocan City will conduct a dengue immunization campaign in Deparo, in the northern part of the city.
According to Mayor Oscar Malapitan, children aged nine to 14 are required to be vaccinated.
“We always give premium to the health of our constituents and give them the best health care available, especially during rainy season when dengue is widespread,” Malapitan said.
Malapitan showed his determination to fight dengue and other diseases caused by unsanitary environment through Oplan Clean Agad, a year-round clean-up drive launched last year.
He also ordered the city environmental management office to step up its preparedness campaign, especially this rainy season. It includes the Intensive cleaning of Caloocan’s waterways.
According to the Department of Health, the vaccine is used to help protect a child against dengue caused by dengue virus serotypes 1, 2, 3, and 4.
