One hundred ninety-nine (199) residents, who had been trapped in Marawi City, have been rescued by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) from Friday night until early Saturday morning.
38 of those who have been brought to safety are teachers.
The civilians have been taken to Iligan City.
One individual, however, was killed by a sniper from Maute terrorist group on Saturday.
Rescuers were about to get hold of the victim when he was shot dead.
This fatality brings to twenty (20) the total number of non-combatants killed in the clashes between the terrorist group and the military.
About 120 Maute terrorists have reportedly been killed, while 36 have died from the side of government forces following 11 days of heavy fighting in the city.
