The Philippines’ most-awarded broadcast journalist, Jessica Soho, renewed her contract with GMA Network on April 4.
Present during the signing were GMA Network Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon; President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr.; and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong.
With a career in the broadcast industry spanning more than three decades, Soho revealed that she is happy to renew her contract with the Kapuso Network. “Parang ang GMA at ako, may forever. Kasi ever since naman, mula magsimula ako hanggang ngayon, ito lang ang tahanan ko,” she shared.
Atty. Gozon cited how Soho remains to be one of the most trusted broadcast journalists in the country. “Si Jessica, talagang icon na iyan at institution dito sa atin. Kamukha ng GMA, she is also a most trusted, hindi lamang as host kundi reporter at lahat na,” he added.
Reacting to what Soho said about her relationship with the Network, Duavit said, “Jessica continues to represent and embody everything that is good and virtuous. Her loyalty is one of these. Nasisiyahan tayo sa patuloy niyang pagtitiwala and very happy because we have somebody who continues to inspire and set an example for all of us with us.”
Yalong also expressed his pleasure over Soho’s contract renewal. “We’re very happy because Jessica is one of the pillars of GMA News and Public Affairs. In fact, yung programa niyang Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho continues to be the top rater,” he said.
Soho hosts the top-rating and award-winning news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) on GMA. She also anchors GMA News TV’s flagship evening newscast, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho (SONA), and is the host of the investigative news magazine program Brigada.
The first Filipina to win the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for Investigative Journalism in 1999, Soho continues to receive recognitions from various award-winning bodies here and abroad. Just recently, Soho was named as the “Most Trusted News Presenter” for the seventh consecutive year by Reader’s Digest Asia.
