THE National Capital Region Police Office has announced the hiring of 996 new police officers who will undergo training to strengthen the Metro Manila police force.
NCRPO chief Oscar Albayalde administered the oathtaking at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City of the new recruits set to undergo one-year rigorous police training and fill up the inadequate numbers of policemen totaling to 165,000 personnel nationwide.
Albayalde said out of the 3,800 applicants, only 996 passed the initial recruitment process administered by the Philippine National Police-Recruitment Selection Board of the Regional Personnel and Records Management Division.
The oathtaking ceremony serves as their entrance to undergo the Public Safety Field Training Program for one year wherein they must endure the painstaking physical conditioning to develop their efficiency and to instill discipline and camaraderie within them.
The new batch will also undergo theoretical and physical training that will develop organizational development and enhance their competence, discipline, professionalism and excellence at the National Capital Region Training Center in Bicutan and in the Bicol region.
The training aimed to measure their endurance and determination as well as to further introduce them the Police Operational Procedure and Basic Laws; and non-academic such as self-defense and firearm proficiency that will enhance their competence, and institute their proficiency in the field of investigation, patrol and traffic management.
Their performance rating within the training will be their requisite to get their permanent status in the National Police.
Albayalde said his office will never tolerate the presence of scalawags in the organization as he reiterated in his order to strengthen the implementation of the NCRPO’s anti-criminality operations within Metro Manila.
“We have zero tolerance on police scalawags. You all know the consequences of being involved in illegal activities so, you have to refrain from doing so,” Albayalde stated.
Meanwhile, a total of 92 police commissioned officers and 947 non-commissioned officers were promoted to their next higher rank.
Among the 5,114 qualified aspirants for promotion, only 1,039 were chosen to fill up the second semester quota of promotion for calendar year 2016.
Promoted PCOs are composed of 22 Police Chief Inspector, 41 Police Senior Inspector and 29 Police Inspector while promoted PNCOs are composed of 44 Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4); 56 Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3); 108 Senior Police Officer 2 (SPO2); 258 Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1); 237 Police Officer 3 (PO3); and 244 Police Officer 2 (PO2).
Albayalde assured that the promotees were properly evaluated and selected to qualify the next higher ranks by the NCRPO-PCO Selection and Promotion Board led by its chairman by Chief Supt. Rolando Nana and NCRPO-PNCO Selection and Promotion Board chairman Amando Clifton Empiso.
The NCRPO director commended the promotees and the recruits, and encouraged them to adhere and be sincere to their sworn duties.
“I want you to value your uniform with high regard. Your uniform will not just provide you the benefits of a police officer. It empowers you to enforce law to hamper criminality. However, I am warning you that you are all accountable for your actions,” said Albayalde.
He reiterated that the NCRPO is supporting the directives of the PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa to intensify the Internal Cleansing Program and commits to provide police officers who are capable and morally upright.
Albayalde urged the police officers to continue their exemplary performance and be an inspiration to their colleagues, shield the public from all forms of criminality and lead the NCRPO to continue its mission.
