THE Quezon City government will extend P10 million to Pandi, Bulacan for the 4,982 informal settler families relocated from the city to a National Housing Authority-designated resettlement there.
Of that amount, P6 million was earmarked to pay for the operational requirements of the Department of Education-Region III’s Division of Pandi North.
It would cover salaries and honoraria of local school board teachers and costs for power bills, installation of a water pump, sports equipment and audio-visual room with equipment, other supplementary teaching materials, and construction of school fences.
The remaining P4 million will be set aside to fund various health, sanitation and livelihood programs that Pandi’s local government will implement in the resettlement sites.
The 36-member City Council has given Mayor Herbert Bautista the green light to enter an agreement with Pandi Mayor Celestino Marquez to formalize the grant by virtue of a resolution confirmed by the council in December 2016.
Prior to the approval of the measure, Marquez sought Quezon City’s assistance for the delivery of basic services to the nearly 5,000 relocated residents.
Taking into consideration that such relocation activity “leads to a significant increase in the demand for support services, especially in the areas of education, health, sanitation and livelihood,” Bautista said Quezon City deemed it necessary to grant financial assistance to Pandi.
