In this new era, women are now being acknowledged by the world. The time when women were given fewer opportunities has ended. We already deserve to be treated equally and see that we exist especially in the business world. We can become great leaders.
This is what I realized when I listened to Ms. Yoling Sevilla’s talk. Having the chance to listen to her makes me feel proud as a woman and empowered to do the right thing. She is a good example of a heroine who touches the lives of her people and helps them to become better.
Ensuring integral human development
Also, she proves that being a mother is not a hindrance in doing her work as a CEO, but a tool in easily taking care and understanding the people around her. She uses her maternal love in inspiring themselves and making the right decision.
She is a remarkable CEO for her hard work in helping different groups of women to make a living. Her priorities not only focused on profit making but also on raising the standard of living for indigenous people, and providing equal opportunities for productive employment and integral human development.
I was moved by her words as I listened to her and it touched me deep inside. It makes me understand how genuine she is as a person and what makes her a leader. The Leather Collection’s “Hanap-Buhay” program is a great example of the application of her personal values that she incorporates in the organization. They build relationships and share values with one another. Everyone is allowed to talk freely and eat together in the kitchen. It is a proof that they value their people as their family and not only because they provide income to the business.
Producing high quality products
Furthermore, I believe that producing high quality products and services help the company succeed. They do not approve of products that are just good or okay but always the best.
Being a woman helps in maintaining the standard operating procedures of a company and ensures that everything function smoothly. Women are more hands-on in terms of the performance of the company and solving the problems immediately. Although women are more emotional than men, we still know our limitations and can be professional at all times. Men or women must be treated equally.
Learning from a true CEO
Therefore, being women should not be a hindrance to becoming a leader. I admire Ms. Yoling Sevilla in empowering women and giving them equal opportunities while promoting our own culture. It is because a true CEO should value her people and help them to improve the quality of their lives. Having a high level of integrity helps in building trust with one another.
Also, building relationship within the organization, your family and to God is what makes you an effective leader. Putting the Catholic Social Teaching in action will help you in making the right and best decision while following God’s path for you. Lastly, always be just and fair at all times.
