THE Ombudsman ordered on Wednesday the dismissal of an incumbent mayor of Trento, Agusan del Sur for grave misconduct and prejudicial conduct over a supposed “sweetheart” land deal.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales directed the Department of the Interior and Local Government to implement the dismissal order on Trento Mayor Johnmark Billanes within 10 days.

The Ombudsman ordered the filing of criminal charges against Billanes for irregularities in a P1-million land deal in 2012 that was brokered with his brother and landowner, Romeo Billanes Jr., owner of a 7,775-square meter property located along the national highway of Poblacion, Trento, Agusan del Sur.
