Drivers’ licenses being issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will now have the validity of 5 years, beginning Monday, October 17, 2016.
This is two years more than the current 3-year validity period given for drivers’ licenses.

For now, licenses with 5-year validity will be handed out only to motorists applying in Metro Manila.
The issuance of these licenses in the provinces will be based on specific dates.
LTO offices in areas including Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Central Visayas and Davao will be able to issue drivers’ licenses with 5-year validity beginning November 2.
