Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Alfredo Yao on Friday called for a moratorium on new laws, saying there are enough legislations in the country.
“We don’t need a new law. I think we just have to revisit old laws and amend them a little bit. A little adjustment that will update these laws,” he said during the pre-event briefing of the 41st Philippine Business Conference and Expo at the group’s office in Bonifacio Global City.
He said the long list of Philippine laws might create confusion, adding some of there were counter-productive to the economy.
“We have the negative list that deters the progress of healthy foreign investment setting. We have so many laws that only needed some tinkering the make them relevant and functional to the country’s needs,” Yao said.
The business conference aims highlight the country’s competitiveness as a regional and global player.
The business conference will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City on October 26, 2015.
