Noted architect and urban planner Jun Palafox recently called on government, developers, architects, engineers, and urban planners to work together to review and update the country’s building code to build taller, safer, smarter, and towards more sustainable vertical urbanism. Speaking at last week’s Asia CEO Forum in Makati City, Palafox observed that “as our skylines reach new heights, our national building code must also be updated to keep up with international standards.” He added that with global urbanization approaching 200,000 people a day, there is a need for new or extended cities.
