Filipino winners have made significant contributions to innovation. Notable inventions include Joseph Aristotle De Leon’s RAMUN, an underground monitoring system for addressing flooding and groundwater issues, Jeremy De Leon’s Make-roscope, a portable microscope for students, Carvey Maigue’s AuREUS, a sustainable energy solution, and the eco-friendly prosthesis Brakong, developed by Emmanuelle Pangilinan and Jason Pechardo.

RAMUN, which won the 2024 Philippine National Prize, continues to be refined for broader deployment. The Make-roscope, which was recognized in the 2023 James Dyson Award International Top 20, continues to expand its reach. Brakong, which was part of the 2022 International Top 20, offers sustainable comfort with its eco-friendly design.

James Dyson, the founder of Dyson, expressed excitement about the award, stating, “The brilliant ideas we’ve seen since the award’s inception prove that young people are passionate about solving the world’s most pressing problems through design, engineering, and technology.”

Submissions close on July 16. Shortlisted entries will be evaluated based on functionality, design process, differentiation, and commercial viability. National Winners, each receiving P361,300, will be announced on Sept. 10. The Global Top 20 Shortlist will be revealed on Oct. 15, with the Global Winners announced on Nov. 5.
