Last week’s grand opening of the Hongqi Grand Showroom at Bonifacio Global City was a celebration marked by joy, and no one embodied that happiness more than Rashid Delgado, President of evoXterra and a prominent figure at Transnational Diversified Group (TDG).

Even before the opening ceremony, Rashid was buzzing with enthusiasm. Hongqi’s first and flagship showroom in the Philippines, located at the ground floor of the Asian Century Center, lives up to its esteemed name in China’s thriving auto industry.

“This showroom signifies a new era of luxury mobility in the Philippines. It’s a space where innovation meets elegance, where you can immerse yourself in the essence of ‘Nobility in Mobility.’ Every corner has been meticulously designed to transport you into the world of Hongqi. When you step inside, you’ll find our flagship models waiting to be explored. It’s not just a car display; it’s a testament to our commitment to delivering automotive excellence,” Rashid exclaimed after unveiling their four-vehicle lineup via a captivating ceremony that briefly paused traffic in the BGC area.

“As we open our showroom’s doors, we invite you on a journey with us. A journey where every moment celebrates ‘Nobility in Mobility,’ where Hongqi’s legacy of elegance, innovation, and sustainability comes to life before your eyes,” added Rashid, while his father, Jose Roberto Delgado, the founder and group chairman of TDG, beamed with pride by his side.

Rashid’s hospitality toward the media was evident when they introduced the Hongqi E-HS9 (an elegant electric SUV, with the Flagship variant now priced at P5.98 million) and the gas-powered Hongqi H9 (a sophisticated sedan now available for P8.08 million) several months ago at their sprawling TDG in.Hub Bldg in Taguig City.

Rashid highlighted TDG’s 45-year history as a trailblazer in various industries, from logistics to renewable energy. The company consistently introduces innovative products and global best practices to the Philippines, always aiming to stay at the forefront of change. Part of their evolving strategy includes a focus on electric vehicles and more sustainable transportation.

“Our decision to collaborate with China FAW Group (the first auto manufacturer in China, established in 1953 and ranked 79th on the Fortune Global 500 list in 2022) is driven by several compelling reasons. FAW’s stellar reputation in the automotive industry aligns with our values of quality and innovation. Their diverse product portfolio, including Hongqi, allows us to offer high-quality vehicles catering to diverse market needs. Their commitment to technological advancement ensures we provide cutting-edge features and technologies to our customers. FAW’s corporate culture emphasizes collaboration and customer satisfaction, which resonates with our own values,” Rashid explained.

With the introduction of high-value cars from various renowned brands, Rashid believes that Hongqi can compete head-to-head with them, or perhaps even outshine them. “We are proud to partner with Hongqi, a brand with an almost 70-year legacy of superior quality, luxury, and reliable after-sales service. In the face of rising fuel prices and the pressing threat of climate change, this partnership will have a positive impact on the automotive industry in the Philippines,” he confidently stated.
