The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) chief in Central Visayas has been recognized as the country’s “Most Distinct Public Service Icon” for 2023.
The recognition was conferred to BFP-Central Visayas director Supt. Roberto Genave by the Philippines Distinct Men and Women of Excellence.
Genave was cited for his “exemplary and outstanding excellence in the field of public service” with a public career spanning over 30 years in regional and national government levels of assignment.
Genave’s track record showed that through the years, he has continually improved the working conditions and welfare of the uniformed personnel under his leadership, as well as passionately educated the people from all walks of life on the role of public safety in sustainable development.
Genave received the recognition from the international award-giving body, along with other Filipino game-changers in the field of politics, film and television production, sports, and business.
Some of Genave’s fellow awardees included talk show host Boy Abunda, Senator Imee Marcos, National Artist Ricky Lee, world-renowned director Brillante Mendoza, and Public Attorneys’ Office chief Persida Rueda-Acosta.
