Discovery Samal, a new luxury resort on the island, recently hosted Davao event planners for a familiarization tour. The event showcased the resort’s luxury amenities and provided planners with a chance to see the facilities firsthand.
Guests were welcomed with a grand drumbeater performance, followed by a warm welcome from General Manager Stanley Lau. Guests were then introduced to the Carcacoles Convention Center, a new 1,000-person venue with a scenic Davao Gulf view, ideal for large gatherings.

Department heads were introduced, including those from sales, marketing, operations, and engineering.
Event planners were invited for a group dance led by a staff member, a Discovery Samal tradition. This lighthearted activity was followed by presentations on wedding packages and resort amenities. There was also a question-and-answer session.
Up on the stage with Lau were the Owner’s Representative, Celina Lim; the Senior Sous Chef, Neal Roa; the Director of Rooms; Bing Burgos; the Executive Housekeeper, Chona Montemayor; the Security Head, Richie Flores and Director of Engineering, Engr. Arjun Cellona.
The planners then took a guided tour of the resort, seeing the different venues and rooms discussed earlier.
The tour continued with an insightful exploration of the resort’s facilities, providing guests with a deeper understanding of what Discovery Samal offers.
The tour concluded with a delicious Asian buffet lunch featuring Chinese, Thai, and Filipino dishes. Drummers provided entertainment, making it a memorable finale.
