Conrad Manila’s Gallery C currently showcases 28 stunning artworks by nine accomplished artists – Lydia Velasco, Anita del Rosario, Addie Cukingnan, Flor Baradi, Dr. Meneline Wong, Lara Latosa, Celeste Lecaroz, Helena and Irish Galon.

As the latest installment of the hotel’s Of Art and Wine series, entitled Breaking the Glass Canvass, this captivating exhibit is in honor of Women’s Month. It banners the hotel’s appreciation of women’s contribution to the arts. This convergence of creativity serves as a beacon of empowerment, urging individuals to embrace their unique identities and celebrate the spirit of femininity.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was done by SMHCC Executive Vice-President Peggy Angeles, artists Lydia Velasco and Lara Latosa, SMHCC President Elizabeth Sy, CCP President Margie Moran Floirendo, and Conrad Manila General Manager Fabio Berto.

Berto declared his profound pride in unveiling this groundbreaking exhibition when he announced that by featuring “the unparalleled talent of these visionary lady artists, Conrad Manila reaffirms its commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within the realm of art and culture.”

Furthermore, co-curators Latosa and Nestor Jardin offered their insights into the significance of the exhibit. The former said that it “encapsulates the essence of empowerment, showcasing the resilience and triumphs inherent in every woman’s journey. Each masterpiece is a testament to the artist’s distinctive style and narrative, ranging from bold abstract to intricate sculptures, a multifaceted tapestry of artistic expression.”

‘España y Filipinas’ is a spontaneous realism piece by Celeste Lecaroz

Jardin, on the other hand, invited the general public to view the beautiful artworks, “to inspire future generations of artists, instilling within them the courage to pursue their passions with unwavering determination.” The exhibit runs until May 17.

As I went through the entire gallery to take a closer look at all the attractive masterpieces, I was completely in awe, as every piece in the exhibit was something to marvel at.  These ladies’ contributions to the world of art are certainly “Breaking The Glass Canvas.”

Irish Galon’s ‘I’m Fine, Thank You’ features two figures in a tight embrace

The following, shown in photos on this page, struck my inner sensibilities the most – Latosa’s Aruga ni Nanay (Mother’s Care) which is acrylic on canvas; Dr. Wong’s Strength In Beauty #3 which is mixed media; Lecaroz’s España y Filipinas in spontaneous realism which is acrylic on canvas; and Galon’s I’m Fine, Thank You which is also acrylic on canvas.

But, regardless of my personal choices, I know you will enjoy the exhibit because every item on display is worthy of acclaim.
