PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business arm of the leading integrated telecommunications and digital services provider in the Philippines PLDT, announces a groundbreaking partnership with MATA Technologies Inc., a Cebu-based provider of virtual islands, virtual tours, and virtual reality solutions, for transformative technologies that will enrich the digital experience and help promote regional startups in the Philippines.
This strategic collaboration aims to foster tech expertise and co-innovation in the immersive reality sphere and on this new enterprise horizon.
MATA Technologies is PLDT Enterprise’s first startup partner in Cebu, through the PLDT Innovation Lab and Ecosystem Partnership, or Innolab.
Known for driving ideation, prototyping, and co-development, the state-of-the-art Innolab is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation and introducing solutions for complex business challenges.
Melvin Jeffrey Chan, Vice President and Head of Innovations, Business Development, Consulting, and Presales at PLDT Enterprise, highlights the value of this partnership with MATA Technologies in driving innovation and introducing future offerings in the virtual space. He emphasizes PLDT Enterprise’s commitment to collaborating with Filipino startups saying, “Our partnership with MATA Technologies exemplifies our dedication to fostering collaboration with startups nationwide. Together, we aim to introduce groundbreaking solutions, products, and technologies that will redefine the virtual space and elevate customer experiences.”
“At MATA Technologies, our goal is to revolutionize business experiences through immersive virtual reality technologies. This collaboration with PLDT Enterprise enables us to promote a more immersive digital experience, particularly on a regional level, where businesses can leverage virtual reality to captivate their audience and enhance engagement,” says Erika Dell Sancho, CEO of MATA Technologies on the broader impact of the partnership with PLDT.
The collaboration reinforces PLDT Innolab’s commitment to open the doors for innovative ventures and drive sustainable innovation across the country.
Niko Peralta, Head of Business & Innovations Strategy and Special Projects at PLDT Enterprise, emphasizes the potential of digital experiences and immersive imagery in transforming day-to-day workflows across different industries. “In the same light as someone witnessing the beauty of Cebu, and with MATA Technologies being able to virtualize the island, we can imagine the business opportunities for immersive technologies, enhancing engagements with customers in the virtual space.”
The alliance strengthens MATA Technologies’ partnership ecosystem – which includes organizations like QBO and Ideaspace – to enable discovery and co-innovation of viable startup business ideas and products that have potential for complementing PLDT Enterprise’s existing solutions.
Ryan Tan Yu, COO of MATA Technologies, envisions a future where virtual reality and immersive technologies can further drive unprecedented growth and innovation for businesses.
“Our goal is to virtualize the islands, unlocking experiences that showcase the natural beauty and rich culture of the Philippines. Through our partnership with PLDT Enterprise, we will explore opportunities for immersive technology, revolutionizing industries and driving economic growth in local communities,” says Tan Yu.
Through PLDT Enterprise’s extensive corporate experience and MATA Technologies’ expertise in virtual tours, 360° media, and virtual reality, this partnership will help broaden the perspectives of businesses that can benefit from increased immersive awareness such as those in the real estate, tourism, and manufacturing industries, and local government.
Such collaborations hold the potential to redefine how companies operate in a hybrid or fully remote setup, enabling them to thrive in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
