G-SHOCK x Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body watch GW-9500TLC-1 showcases absolute toughness
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. through its Philippine distributor, CSC Time, Inc., recently launched the latest addition to G-shock’s lineup of functional yet stylish watches. The special edition, Master of G Mudman or GW-9500TLC-1. G-SHOCK and Team Land Cruiser (TLC) Toyota Auto Body, a racing team, join forces once more, cementing a legendary partnership built on years of support.
The entire design of the collab timepiece expresses the spirit of challenge that defines TLC, a veteran of Dakar Rally which is considered the toughest race in the world. The watch is based on the earlier edition of MUDMAN GW-9500, a sturdy piece of outdoor gear known for delivering in the most punishing conditions.
The limited edition model packs a punch in terms of aesthetics and function. From the colors to materials and other features, this watch is any outdoor enthusiast’s dream accessory.
1. Special colors showcase look of the team’s rally car
The limited edition watch features a black and red color scheme inspired by the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport, the car raced by TLC in the Dakar Rally. An ion plating is applied to the metal bezel as part of the overall black look and set off with red accents which include the red line decorating the button at 3 o’clock and side surfaces.
The design evokes the toughness of a racing machine capable of delivering in harsh conditions across an approximately 10,000-km course.
2. Band design perfectly captures the desert setting of the rally
A noteworthy aesthetic of this timepiece is the watch’s sand-colored band which was designed to capture the feel of racing through desert sands. The band is also printed with a black splatter pattern that evokes tracks left by speeding racers. The ion plating in the same brown hue is also applied to the guard for the front button.
3. Official logo to commemorate a special collaboration
On top of the standout aesthetics, the watch pays homage to the TLC with the band and case back adorning the Team Land Cruiser logo. Furthermore , a TLC graphic appears on the LCD when the LED backlight is illuminated.
This official watch bearing the symbolic design was actually used in the Dakar Rally.

G-SHOCK has taken considerable steps in creating this special accessory by using renewable organic resources. The key resin components used in the case and band are made with bio-based resin which can help reduce environmental impact. Recycled materials are used for the special packaging as well.

The solid, rugged exterior design features a multi-component structure and independent front button. Incorporating cut glass with a special glass adhesion method and a Carbon Core Guard structure, the watch has a smaller, slimmer form that delivers durability, operability, and a highly comfortable fit.

The top layer of the LCD provides a graphical compass display, while the bottom layer provides large measurement and time displays. The LCD has been made slimmer to minimize bulk, even while being dual-layer.

The front button and three direct sensor buttons feature large, easy-to-operate forms designed to keep mud and water out. The buttons are protected by cylindrical stainless steel parts, and the button shafts are equipped with gasket fittings to prevent contamination with mud and dust.

Other notable aspects of the watch include a Triple Sensor (digital compass, barometer/altimeter, and thermometer) that senses natural changes. The watch also boasts of Multi-band 6 radio control and solar power for accurate timekeeping and Super Illuminator (high-brightness full-auto LED backlight) for maintaining watch readability in the dark.
