In order to help the families in need, various non-government organizations in our country were made, establishing different programs that can support Filipinos or offer some assistance from the struggles of poverty.

KABAKA: Helping Filipinos in need
Opening of the KABAKA Clinic, Pharmacy and Diagnostic Center in Pandacan, Manila.

One of these organizations is Kabaka ng Bayan sa Kaunlaran (KABAKA) Foundation Inc.

KABAKA is a charitable institution that started on December 3, 1985 by its founder, Amado Bagatsing, in Malate, Manila and was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 1988. Since then, KABAKA has been offering and promoting various programs to reach out to Manila families, who need help especially when it comes to health and education.

For 33 years, KABAKA has lived up to its tagline “caring for the sick and helping the poor,” expanding with more programs and projects in education, health, sports and youth development, livelihood training, and different kinds of assistance their beneficiaries in need.

Believing that education is a tool for the people to achieve their dreams and be able to contribute to the society with their potential, KABAKA offers free education with their KABAKA Manpower Training and Assessment Center (KMTAC) to aid those who aspire to develop their skills.

KMTAC provides Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-recognized and sanctioned courses and certificates. Some of their courses are food and beverage, housekeeping, bartending, and consumer electronics which are taught by TESDA instructors.

They also give Commission on Higher Education (CHED) scholarships for college students who want to acquire that kind of assistance.

KABAKA: Helping Filipinos in need
KABAKA Foundation Inc.

For KABAKA’s free healthcare, the foundation created a clinic, pharmacy, laboratory, and a diagnostics center to give priority to those who can’t afford check-ups in private hospitals. They offer free consultation, diagnosis, and medicines for their beneficiaries upon the completion of the needed requirements like barangay certificate and a KABAKA ID.

They also conduct medical missions in their surrounding barangays in Manila and provide aids like wheelchair and medical supplies for free.

More so, KABAKA organizes an annual sportsfest as part of their sports and youth development where they promote and aspire for their participants to have a healthy competition and sportsmanship.

The organization has two sports to offer in their sports fest–volleyball and basketball.

KABAKA also delivers community services such as emergency relief and disaster assistance, mortuary and burial assistance, livelihood projects and employment opportunities, and their balik probinsya program that helps people who need to go back to their provinces in times of emergency.

KABAKA’s dedication and unending service have given a lot of assistance and opportunities that aid several citizens of Manila. With KABAKA’s continuous effort to help the less privileged, Filipinos can learn from and attain the services provided by the foundation in more years to come.
